is a native of Mt. Vernon, New York and is a member of Trinity Baptist Church in the Bronx, which for 42 years was pastored by her father, the late Rev. Dr. Nathaniel Tyler-Lloyd. Influenced by the vocations of both parents; (her mother Mrs. Portia Tyler-Lloyd is an educator) Naomi realized her personal responsibility for relevant participation as a member of the human family. As a result she earned a BA in Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a MSEd in Rehabilitation Counseling from Hunter College. Her training enabled her to work in a variety of venues in the counseling field for more than ten years.
As well as being a counselor, Rev. Tyler-Lloyd has traveled throughout New York State as a lecturer and facilitator to church and professional groups. Rev. Tyler-Lloyd also served as adjunct faculty in the department of Social Sciences at the College of New Rochelle of New Resources as well as in the Department of Educational Foundations and Counseling Programs at Hunter College Graduate School.
As a member of Trinity Church, Rev. Naomi has served on the Foreign Mission Ministry and 1the Baccalaureate Committee, and she was organizer and chairperson of the Selah Coffeehouse Ministry. Outside of Trinity Baptist Church, Rev. Naomi has been involved with Baptist World Alliance in many capacities including serving as a member of the Youth Executive Committee of the Baptist World Alliance (BWA), and as chairperson of the International Program Committee which planned the 2004 World Youth Conference held in Hong Kong, China. Currently she serves as Regional Vice President for North America in the Youth Department of BWA and a member of the BWA General Council.
In 1996, Rev. Tyler-Lloyd accepted God’s call on her life to the gospel ministry. She responded by enrolling in Duke University Divinity School in 1998, to pursue the Master of Divinity degree. The following year she was licensed by the Trinity Baptist Church, to preach the gospel. In May of 2001, she graduated and in October of that year she was the last minister to be ordained by Pastor Lloyd at Trinity Church in conjunction with the American Baptist Churches of Metro NY. In June of 2004, Rev. Naomi was called by Trinity Church to serve as their Interim Pastor. In May 2005 she was elected pastor and was installed on Oct 1, of that year. Pastor Naomi continues to teach and preach the gospel both here and abroad.
